Heading up towards Beaune, you cross the vineyards of Monthelie, Volnay and Pommard, some of the greatest reds of the Côte. The route follows the hillside, with the Saône plain below.
Cycling the Voie des Vignes from Meursault
A hillside route reserved for bikes and walkers, crossing the greatest appellations of the Côte. Four bicycles are waiting at the cottage, lent free of charge.

Four bicycles, at no extra cost
The cottage provides four bicycles, one of them fitted with a child seat. They are included in the price of the rental: nothing to hire, nothing to transport, nothing to bring back.
It is the fairest way to see this vineyard. By bike you travel at the speed of the plots: you read the names on the low walls, you see the slopes change their aspect, you stop wherever you please.

Two directions from the village
The Voie des Vignes runs through Meursault. From there, two routes open up, one north, one south.
10 km to Santenay
South — Puligny, Chassagne, Santenay
Southwards lie the most celebrated white appellations: Puligny-Montrachet, then Chassagne-Montrachet, as far as Santenay. An easy half-day there and back.
Worth knowing before you set off
No cars
The Voie des Vignes is reserved for cyclists and walkers: you ride without worrying about traffic.
Hilly, but reasonable
These are slopes, so there are climbs. Nothing insurmountable for anyone who cycles now and then.
Water and something to eat
There are few shops between the villages. The Meursault bakery is 300 metres from the cottage: set off well supplied.
Cellars close early
If you plan to taste along the way, check opening times: many estates receive by appointment only.
Without pedalling
Other ways to cross the vines
Cycling is not the only option. From Meursault and Beaune you can also fly over the vineyard by hot-air balloon, or cross it by horse-drawn carriage, 2 CV, Solex, jeep or Segway.
