The Trois Glorieuses and the Paulée de Meursault
On the third weekend of November each year, wine-growing Burgundy holds its three great events: the chapter dinner at the Clos de Vougeot, the Hospices de Beaune wine auction and the Paulée de Meursault. The last of these takes place in the village itself, three hundred metres from the cottage.

The dates never change: the Hospices auction is held on the third Sunday of November, with the chapter at the Clos de Vougeot the day before and the Paulée de Meursault the day after. The festivities in Beaune start on the Friday.

Four days, four events
- Friday 13Beaune opens the festivities
The Fête des Grands Vins de Bourgogne sets up at the Palais des Congrès: every appellation in Burgundy to taste under one roof, on Friday from 2 pm to 7 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm. In town: tastings in the cellars, a gourmet market, a funfair.
- Saturday 14The half marathon and the chapter
At 2 pm, more than 5,000 runners set off from Beaune for the Vente des Vins half marathon: 21 km through the vineyards of Pommard, Volnay and Meursault. In the evening, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin holds its Trois Glorieuses chapter at the château of the Clos de Vougeot, a black-tie gala dinner that officially opens the weekend.
- Sunday 15The Hospices de Beaune wine auction
In the Halles de Beaune, the most famous wine auction in the world, and the oldest charity sale: since 1859, the proceeds have funded the hospital of Beaune. Beaune is 8 km from the cottage, and the whole town is caught up in the sale.
- Monday 16The Paulée de Meursault
The Paulée closes the Trois Glorieuses. Originally the end-of-harvest meal, it is now a lunch for around 700 guests at the Château de Meursault, where everyone brings their finest bottles and the Paulée literary prize is awarded. The château is in the village, a few minutes’ walk from the cottage.

In the Paulée’s village, not the one next door
On the Monday, the Paulée is held at the Château de Meursault, three hundred metres from the cottage. You walk there, and you walk back, which, after a Burgundian lunch, is no small thing.
On the Sunday, Beaune is 8 km away: a quarter of an hour by car, or the TER train from Meursault station. On auction weekend, parking in Beaune is a feat in itself; staying outside town and coming home in the evening is far simpler.
The cottage takes one-night stays, at the same rate as the rest of the year. Most places to stay on the Côte insist on three nights, or even a full week, for that weekend.

Book well ahead
The whole Côte de Beaune is fully booked months in advance. Write to us as soon as your dates are certain.
Plan not to drive
The Paulée is a lunch that goes on. Staying in the village means you can walk home, without a care.
Allow plenty of time to get around
On the Sunday, traffic and parking in Beaune are difficult all day. Leave early, or take the train: around fifteen TER services a day link Meursault to Beaune.
